STONER ROCK .COM REVIEW OF DESERT MONKEY'S 'WATER DAMAGE'.
'This five-song EP by UK's Desert Monkey rocks good and hard, but seems to me to be rather closer to the rock than to the stone, although the title track veers into headier territory nicely. But what the hell, it's damn good rock. You can taste a litte Orange Goblin here and there, but more melodic and with better harmonies. But the '70's vibe you get harkens back to bands like Blue Cheer, bands that knew how to jam without putting you to sleep. Special mention must be made of the drummer (the liner notes don't specify who plays what), who hammers with precision and authority. Play it twice in a row - it's really short.' www.stonerrock.com |
