LOGO MAGAZINE REVIEW OF DESERT MONKEY'S 'WATER DAMAGE'.

'What kind of band would call themselves Desert Monkey? It’s the game we always play when a demo pops through the door, but this one had us stumped. Until we played their self-financed EP ‘Made Great By A Breeze’ that is, at which point foreheads were smacked and up piped the “of course” chorus. The opening riff to the title track gives it away: it’s pure Trouble, Kyuss and Fu Manchu, while vocalist Lewis Spurgin sounds like Chris Cornell with a sore throat. It’s NOT stoner rock though, despite that being the basic template. Instead they deliver a kind of everyman rock that touches on a lot of bases without truly making one style their own. Desert Monkey boast an average age of only eighteen however, and if they can do this now, think what they’ll be doing when they’re twenty-one. Definitely ones to keep a close eye on.'
