ITS ELECTRIC REVIEW OF DESERT MONKEY'S 'MADE GREAT BY A BREEZE'.

"The most requested local band EP in Its Electric, Desert Monkeys new 4 tracker has created a lot of interest and plenty of sales. Its a joy to receive a demo of this quality that can be played in the shop and not drive the punters away!! Well produced in terms of sound and packaging, first impressions are that you should take this lot seriously.

Launching straight into Made Great by a Breeze, Desert Monkey set out their stall straight from the off. Hard hitting bluesy rock with a twist of the modern. Insistent rhythmic riffing, a tough sounding melodic vocal and tight as a very tight thing. Great guitar sound. Has a kinda Audioslave groove to it. Next track up is Balance which has a more traditional feel about it and a looser, funkier vibe. Some great guitar and bass noodling. 3rd track Terpsichorean continues with the funkier theme but with a monster rock groove. Huge. Certain to get you dancing. Final track Easylong is perhaps the most ambitious of the tracks here with lots of different shades to keep you interested and a wonderful guitar piece to finish. I dont like making comparisons to other bands particularly, but if pushed there is a bit of Incubus, a bit of the Chili Peppers, lots of old school bluesy rock and a hint of obscure Canadians The Front. Fantastic, refreshing stuff from a band who have improved massively over the last year and if they continue at this pace are surely set for greater things."
